We are currently looking for a Systems Engineer to join Thales in Melbourne, FL. The Systems Engineer
is responsible for guiding the technical aspects of systems design. The Systems Engineer is involved in all aspects of Systems Engineering related projects – from bid through deployment, in support of the architecture definition by the Solution level architect, or PDA. The Systems Engineer will help to define the design details including (where used) Conops, User stories, Requirements, IDDs, System ICDs, and design review details; clearly highlighting the new developments (scope, key technical aspects and development challenges with quantified risks) from the existing components of the Thales IFE sub-systems. The Systems Engineer analyzes new situations, formulates new ideas; and generates requirements with sufficient detail to start a new design and solve complex problems. The Systems Engineer applies knowledge of hardware, software and network technologies to generate highly innovative, cost effective, system level design solutions. The Systems Engineer executes and enhances System Engineering efforts and processes with regard to development and sustaining projects

Key Responsibilities:
Creates, defines, analyzes, integrates and maintains overall System requirements including Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) Analysis and Definition for the particular Competency Center.
Contributes to System level integration in terms of requirements knowledge and expectations, planning, and execution of hardware and software integration
Assists Product Management with Product Requirements Document (PRD), including integration of Customer-specific requirements and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) generation and maintenance
Contributes Systems Engineering expertise and process knowledge to enhance company objectives and processes, effectively communicating and gathering support for them. Contributes to Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) Estimates and Supports proposals, customer presentations, and New Product Design
The Systems Engineer possesses strong communication and technical abilities
The Systems Engineer will consider the system architecture and roadmap in designing innovative solutions.
The Systems Engineer is customer facing (internal & to a lesser degree external), and he/she must be able to keep communication lines open and clear.
Internal customers include Product Line Management, Project Management, Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Design Authority (DA, DAPL), and Software Engineering.
External customers can include Satellite operators, Satellite providers, Network operators, Airline customers and Aircraft OEMs on the definition and compliance of the Connectivity system requirements, and drive requirements traceability between customer compliance matrix, internal requirements repository and specific development plans.

Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Systems, Electrical, Software Engineering, or other technical field and 8+ years related experience
8+ years’ engineering experience working within a large scale technology development organization.
Broad knowledge of System, software and network technologies.
Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to generate design solutions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Systems, Electrical, Software Engineering, or other technical field and 8+ years related experience
8+ years’ experience in design in the disciplines of Systems, Software, or Hardware
Experience with Inflight Entertainment or Airborne Satellite Communication Systems – preferred
Familiarity with system, hardware & software development processes (ARP4754Rev A, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160G).
Familiar with ARINC standards applicable to IFE and Airborne SATCOM systems
Experience working with network systems and networking principles, data, voice, or video.
Experience working with network software and hardware, data, voice, or video.
Experience with System and/or Software architecture, development and integration requirements.
Experience in the avionics industry is a plus.
Familiar with FAA requirements applicable to SATCOM & avionic installations, such as Technical Standard Orders, Supplemental Type Certificates, FARs, and flight testing of satellite systems
Familiar with industry requirements for airborne SATCOM & avionic systems, such as ARINC, RTCA, SAE, and FCC
Familiar with region requirements (USA, Brazil, Europe, China)
