Position available for a full time Pantry/Prep Cook
32 hours per week, 9 am - 5:30 pm
We are a 24/7 facility therefore one must be able to work weekends and holidays as required.
All applicants are required to complete and pass a drug screening, physical exam with tuberculosis (TB) skin test, and criminal clearance through FBI and Department of Justice. The background search includes minor misdemeanors and DUIs.
Ideal candidates have a strong work ethic, are hospitality minded, always put forth their best effort, excellent communication skills, follow directions and guidance from supervisory and management team, able to work well with others and adhere to safety and sanitation regulations, possess a sense of urgency, pay attention to the "little things", and are able to function in a high volume, fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Responsible for preparing items for cooking. Must have knowledge of use of kitchen equipment.
Responsible for pantry organization. Prepares all cold sauces, dressings, salads, and desserts for customer service, salad bar, buffets, banquets and tableside service. Prepare all orders as turned in by wait staff and ensure all orders are cooked and according to order.
Prepares the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders. Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved.
Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and seeing that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
A minimum of one to two years’ kitchen experience as a prep-cook in a hotel, restaurant, club or similar institution.
Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day. Moderate to heavy physical effort needed infrequently. Manual dexterity for preparing food. Ability to use standard industrial kitchen appliances required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently. May be exposed to extreme temperatures (freezers and stoves-range burners) for short periods of time. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals. Must be able to see, hear, and communicate with others.
