Release Train Engineer

Location: Philadelphia, PA 19103

Position Summary:

Looking for an experienced and certified SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) to work with a newly formed Agile Release Train to guide it through its first three 12-wk PIs. The RTE will need to work with both the program and team level to impart agile and lean principles and practices, partner with internal change agents and work with an internal resource to build competencies for them to take over and sustain RTE responsibilities & practices following the engagement.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Embrace & embody an Agile mindset
  • Coordinate delivery across globally dispersed teams sharing a common delivery cadence
  • Coach leaders, teams and scrum masters on lean-agile practices, methods and mindsets
  • Facilitate and be the face of the ART in globally dispersed PI Planning sessions
  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the program using various tools
  • Escalate impediments and/or issues that may contribute to delays or missed delivery of commitments
  • Aggregate team PI objectives into Program PI objectives and publish
  • Facilitate PI planning readiness - preparation of Visions, backlogs & speakers
  • Oversee tracking and reporting of feature completion & value delivery
  • Drive continuous improvement via Inspect and Adapt ceremonies
  • Ensure System Demos are planned and executed
  • Facilitate synchronization meetings such as mid-PI assessments and ART Sync meetings
  • Update and communicate ART Release Plans
  • Communicate relevant information to all team members and stakeholders
  • Continually assess the agility level of the ART and help them improve
  • Collaborate with other RTEs and Suppliers to coordinate dependencies
  • Mentor and coach someone to fully take over the RTE role by the 4th PI

Position Requirements:

  • Experience functioning as the RTE on a train during its first PI
  • Experience functioning in the RTE role
  • Certified SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE)
  • Experience with an ART with teams that are globally dispersed
  • Ongoing active participation in agile and lean communities and events
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Rally, Jira, Version One, etc.
  • Strong experience in Agile metrics

Nice to Have (Not Required):

  • Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC4) or SAFe Program Consultant Trainer (SPCT4) is a plus

Requisite Abilities and/or Skills:

  • Demonstrated deep understanding of Lean-Agile methods and practices and skill applying them at scale
  • Comfortable & skilled in presenting to small and large groups of varied levels within the organization

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $90,000.00 to $120,000.00 /year
