This position is in the Department of Anesthesiology. The position is located at 4533 Clayton Avenue. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
In support of the Billing Director for the Department the position ensures that Anesthesiology has a robust process for charge capture, coding and follow up for its fee for service billing generating optimal revenue from our payers. Will support the Billing Director in managing more than 35 billing staff. Responsible for ensuring compliance and productivity standards are met. For the right candidate this role will be a succession planning opportunity for the Director of Billing position.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and maintains effective billing/collection policies and procedures related to Anesthesiology fee for service revenues.
Assists the billing managers with establishing targets to achieve financial performance, quality and productivity standards.
Analyzes reports to determine areas for improvement; review with billing managers to determine an appropriate plan of action.
Evaluate billing processes across each functional area to ensure efficiency and maximum automation.
In partnership with the Billing Director, acts as the Department Billing leader for assigned divisions. Communicate with divisions on day-to-day issues, along with the revenue analyst. Meet with assigned divisions to review financial revenue results, present financial revenue analyses and answer questions. Various meetings with divisions could include business managers, front-end managers, faculty, division chiefs and the chairman.
Communicates with all divisions regarding billing policies and procedures, and provides consultation and advice regarding billing opportunities in collaboration with the Department Billing Compliance lead and Office of Physician Billing Compliance (OPBC).
Assists with resolving outstanding accounts receivable and processing problems as needed.
Work with EPIC1 to ensure that the EPIC anesthesiology billing module is set up for the most efficient capture of fee for service charges.
Equivalent of BS with 5+ years supervisory and operational analysis experience.
Healthcare experience with working knowledge of accounts receivable.
Advance degree desirable.
Good Working knowledge of EPIC billing modules, Anesthesiology Billing module preferable.
Working knowledge of healthcare payer procedures and related systems and standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals at various levels.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
Good organization and planning skills.
PC software knowledge- MS Office applications.
The hiring range for this position is $77,314 - $102,440 annually.
