The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Mission Computing Operating Systems Team located in Tukwila, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
This position would provide engineering support for the Mission Computing (MC) development environment and computing assets. Includes coordination with the software engineers and outside vendors to complete specified tasks. Would lead software development team activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for Mission Computing Operating systems software. Leads development of software unit and verification plans and documenting results to ensure software system requirements are met. Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities. Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools, and metrics. Serve as a subject matter expert for software Operating System domain, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations. Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads the design, development, architecture, and maintenance of software solutions for network stack protocol software used to securely exchange data between systems
Partners with stakeholders to lead identification and review of product security requirements
Reviews performance analysis, testing, monitoring and software assessments of networking protocol software to assess, identify and address risks, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities
Reviews input provided on secure network and protocols throughout the end-to-end lifecycle development of software products
Leads researching and implementation of current and emerging networking protocols, software security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies
Reviews software project management activities and software supplier management functions
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science)
1 plus years of experience with containerization orchestration with Kubernetes and Rancher
7 plus years of experience in using Linux Red Hat
1 plus years of hands-on maintenance and configuration experience with network routers and switches
1 plus years of experience in at least one (1) of the following cybersecurity domains: authentication, authorization, identification, federation, security event monitoring, or incident response
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Master of Science or PhD (STEM)
Knowledge and use of multiple networking protocols (e.g. TCP, UDP, multicast, NAT, and spanning tree)
High availability storage system design and implementation (e.g. RAID and Cluster systems)
Installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Travel:
Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 15%.
