Job Summary:
The Associate Manager, Category Development position leads the business segment in delivering Category Leadership in the marketplace, driving sustainable category growth and advantage brand presence in aisle and online for Newell Brands portfolio. This person will work with the Newell Global Brand Management, Country Marketing, Country Customer Marketing, Country Category Management, Consumer Insights, and the Sales Leadership team on implementing the Category strategies including business case development, pricing strategy, commercialization strategy by retail environment, competitor’s analysis, point of sale data.
Responsibilities:
INNOVATION LIAISON BETWEEN GLOBAL AND LOCAL MARKETING
- Represent the voices of the customer internally and the voice of the customer externally with Brand partners.

Captures and summarizes customer and local marketing & customer marketing feedback to inform Innovation execution and future Innovation launches.

Ensures consumer and shopper insights \ rationale exist to support sell in of Innovation.

Develop skillset to serve as a “Brand Champion” by supporting commercialization efforts on new products/ initiative launches.

Compiles consultation \feedback from local teams and oversight to the development of Selling Decks for all key Brand Initiatives (Innovation Launches, Sales Funnel Opportunities-Pitch Ready Decks)

Aids in the review of optimization opportunities (Exit or Fix) on negative margin SKUs/ at country, customer \ retail environment level

Helps to develop assortment for line review recommendations, seasonal programs, and merchandising displays.
CATEGORY FINANCIALS AND PRICE STRATEGY

Support the assessment and assembling financials and market analysis for the launch of new products based on potential opportunities, syndicated data and local insight coming from multiple countries and geographies across LATAM region. Assembly of financial business cases.

Partners with Brand Finance and local teams to develop annual every day and promotional retail price points, promotional frequency, gross margin thresholds, key price thresholds by brand.

Helps develop the communications for the brand price strategy to sales and marketing through release of Category Go-To-Market (GTM) Playbooks.
- Monitors marketplace and highlights when competitive pricing strategy needs to be reviewed, challenged, or adjusted.
CATEGORY EXPERT & STORYTELLER

Partners with Brand and other cross functional teams to launch and update category playbooks.
- Develops category selling stories regarding assortment, new items, and display/merchandising tactics that are aligned with the retailer/company objectives.

Produces actionable insights, suggests recommendations by effectively communicating findings to cross-functional groups.

Leads data mining and visualization focused on category performance, volume drivers and 5P analysis (Product, Placement, Proposition, Pricing, POP)
- Gathers competitive intelligence through a variety of tools and resources and delivers competitive tracking to understand sources of volume (new buyers, switching, expansion) and trial & repeat.
ANNUAL PLAN DEVELOPMENT & DELIVERY
- Supports the deployment of budget targets across customers and channels to ensure Brand targets are met or exceeded. Includes revisions of programs with demand teams, bottoms up sales forecasting, identifying building blocks, key plan drivers and risks/opportunities.

Supports roll-up of annual plans to help inform budgeting process and determine where gaps exist.
- Assists with the creative brainstorming process for sales on alternatives to achieve sales/profit objectives.
Key Qualifications:

3+ years of experience with a CPG or durable company, ideally in brand management, channel management, insights, or sales, preferably with retail experience.

Demonstrated ability to partner with multiple teams to achieve results
- Analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English

Interpersonal savvy: an ability to effectively work with, influence and connect with all levels of employees across multiple functions and geographies.

Ability to operate independently given direction, and bring ideas and solutions to issues raised
