The Director, Dining Services provides strategic direction and operational leadership for dining and food services. Ensures patient/guest satisfaction and efficient, cost-effective direction of the department to meet or exceed expectations. Develops and directs the leadership team. Identifies, develops, and supports performance metrics that align with division and ThedaCare strategies and goals. Works collaboratively with leaders to develop department/division initiatives and policies and procedures that focus on employee engagement, meeting financial/business performance objectives, process improvement initiatives, patient/guest satisfaction, quality, and workplace safety. Works closely with division leaders and team members to adjust processes to achieve targets.
Provides strategic planning, program development, labor management, and overall operational administration of the department.
Effectively directs team members in a manner consistent with ThedaCare policies and values. Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department.
Oversees and ensures accuracy of time and attendance and payroll practices.
Establishes and communicates goals and objectives for accomplishing food and dining services plans.
Reviews staffing plans and work schedules for providing nutrition services and identifies resource needs including team members, supplies, consultants/contractors, and capital to accomplish goals and objectives.
Advises management on emerging issues relating to nutrition services. Thinks creatively to develop innovative menu items and delivery platforms, while having a deep understanding of the food services environment and achieving desired operational goals. Leads the preparation and administration of budgets. Reviews expenditures against budget and oversees countermeasures for controllable expenditures. Champions cost reduction opportunities and takes ownership of results.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local codes, licensure, and regulatory requirements as well as accreditation standards. Continuously stays up-to-date with food and nutrition standards and industry trends.
Works effectively with leaders and team members to drive business innovation, service strategies, and continuous improvement processes to ensure service excellence.
Models and promotes excellent customer service for internal and external customers.
The Dining Services department at our hospitals provides a "made to order" room service meal plan for our patients. Patients can order what they want, when they want, and the Foodservice Assistant takes meals directly to the patient. We have a progressive, healthy food focused program in place, using "from scratch" cooking methods to add flavor and taste. Pace of work varies, very busy over meal periods. We are a large department - together provide meals to patients, cafeteria customers, catered events, meals on wheels, child care.
