Stable Technician and Assistant Trail Guide

Haig Point Club & Community - Daufuskie Island, SC

This position is a unique opportunity to utilize your horsemanship skills and riding experience to work in one of the most beautiful settings in the Southeast. The scope of the job is assisting in a trail riding program while conducting the duties of a stable hand. The stables is located on Daufuskie Island, SC, a unique bridgeless island that lends itself to horseback riding year round. This is a new position with opportunity to grow in salary as the business grows. As a boutique operation that provides high end, private trail rides for small groups, this position requires that you are not only a professional but that your work ethic and customer service is second to none. You will be working with people who may have never ridden before as well as experienced riders and therefore you must be able to respectfully and patiently address both constituent groups. You also must be able to maintain the horses and facility to a standard representative of a private club and resort. You will come in contact with clients and their horses daily so your excellent customer service and horse/stable care skills must be demonstrated consistently.

Additionally, an ideal candidate will not only be able to meet the requirements laid out above but would also be able to assist in training and schooling horses during the off season, help with kid's programs, and lead occasional pony rides. They would also have basic knowledge of equine first aid and nutrition.

There are accommodations available to live on the island (which is preferable) but commuting daily to Daufuskie on our hourly private ferry service is also possible. Candidate will be allowed to pasture board one personal horse. Schedule will be variable depending on the season. Please submit a professional resume that highlights your horse experience and facility management skills. If your resume is full of grammatical errors and misspellings, it will not be considered regardless of your skills. Background screening and drug testing are required prior to hiring. Position is accompanied by a 401k, scheduled days off, and full benefits after a 90 day probationary period.
