SUMMARY: Manage hotel to ensure efficient and profitable operation by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF HOTEL GENERAL MANAGER include the following, but not limitedto. Other duties may be assigned

Ensure total guest satisfaction

Conducts orientation training of new employees to explain company policies and history.

Assists direction and coordinates promotion of services performed to develop new markets, increase share of market, and obtain competitive position in industry

Assists coordination of activities of departments such as housekeeping, maintenance, and front desk, to effect operational efficiency and economy

Requisitions supplies and equipment

Processes reservations and advance registration payments

Inspects guest rooms, public access areas, and outside grounds for cleanliness and appearance when necessary

Answers guests' complaints and resolves problems

Meets with prospective customers to determine their needs and set rates

Works with department heads and outside contractors on major renovations or work being done at the hotel

Involved in the day-to-day operation of the hotel at all levels


Manages and supervise employees at the Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Breakfast Attendants. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

College graduate or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or member of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
