The Catholic Academy of Bridgeport is hiring a full-time School Counselor for the 2024-2025 Academic Year, a role which will entail providing a full range of services to students who need additional support. As a key member of our support team, the successful candidate will partner with school administrators and teachers to develop and implement plans that provide specialized support for selected students throughout the course of the school year. Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students
- Assess student needs and develop personalized counseling plans
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to address student concerns
- Conduct behavioral health assessments and provide appropriate interventions
- Assist students in developing effective coping strategies and problem-solving skills
- Support students with special education needs by providing counseling services and referring students for Special Education Testing through Bridgeport Public Schools, in collaboration with the academic team
- Promote cultural diversity awareness and provide counseling for diverse student populations
-Maintain accurate case files and reports to track student issues and progress
- Educate students on topics such as conflict management, social skills, and character development through implementation of our Social Emotional Learning curriculum (YALE RULER, Second Step)
- Collaborate with community resources to support child welfare and well-being
Qualifications
- Master's degree in School Counseling, Family Therapy, Social Work or related field
- State certification /licensure as a School Counselor, LCSW, LPC, license eligible
- Experience working with students in an educational setting
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques

- Strong sense of direction, communication, professionalism and interpersonal skills
-Supportive and respectful of Catholic values and teachings (preference is for a practicing Catholic)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines
