The Profitability Analysis team develops and maintains the models that measure Schwab’s profitability. Working with enterprise business partners, finance support teams, and onshore and offshore technical resources, the PA team uses activity-based costing methodologies to provide a fully-loaded view of profitability by client segment, product, and delivery channel.
The Sr. Business Process Analyst will support Profitability Analysis, Management Reporting, and Enterprise Finance teams in the production and understanding of data and processes in the Profitability Analysis System, both at the segment/product level and at the client account level as well as supporting 15C process. This position will play a role in improving the quality and depth of profitability-related data by working actively with Profitability Analysis, Technical Support, and Analytics & Business Insight (ABI) groups. This position functions as a data analyst, business analyst, and data consultant.
What you’ll do:
The successful candidate will be able to understand data in the Profitability Analysis system and other platforms, with a business perspective. It is also important to understand the profitability data and the implications from client data. As this role provides support to Profitability Analysis, Technical Support team, and other Enterprise Finance teams, the ability to communicate effectively and deal with a wide range of individuals is a must – from end users of the data to the technical staff in Schwab Technology and at various levels in the organization.
The candidate will also be responsible for understanding the requirements from business partners and prepare business requirements for the technical support team. In addition, it is expected that the candidate will be able to lead initiatives in various development projects. The candidate must be comfortable in facilitating groups and influencing individuals across a range of tenures and working styles. A healthy balance between being an articulate advocate and an objective critic, along with attention to detail while maintaining the bigger picture is essential. The candidate must be a self-motivated and results-oriented individual.
The central responsibility of this open position is to build data and a financial model to help Schwab understand profitability in various channels such as Branches and web.
What you have:
7+ years of experience in data analysis using query tools and 2+ years (or equivalent) experience in financial industry preferred
Experience as a Business Analyst supporting applications within a Finance or Accounting Department
Experience with large corporate level data warehouses and supporting semantic layers which map complex data into familiar business terms
Senior level skills in gathering and documenting functional requirements, identifying options, and translating functional requirements to technical requirements
Strong analytical, problem-solving, influencing, decision-making and interpersonal skills
Experience creating professional grade business documentation, functional specifications, and white papers
Experience interfacing directly with Director/Executive level business and technical partners
Design and Development experience for complex and cross functional projects with emphasis on business process redesign
Capable of interpreting complex SQL for translation into AS-IS functional state
Experience writing SQL (Teradata preferred, or Transact-SQL/ PL/SQL)
Knowledge of technical environments and tools, including TOAD, Teradata, Informatica, Tableau, ERWIN
Experience with Agile Scrum
Knowledge of MS Office applications
Excellent written/verbal communication skills
Ability to drive projects to successful completion
Must be a self-started
Must be able to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new business functions
Familiarity/Experience within Financial Services, Brokerage Services preferred
In addition, the ideal candidate will have the following desired qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field
