***Currently we are seeking for experienced Delica/Ramen Store Associates***

Marukai Corporation U.S.A. (DBA Tokyo Central) is a fast-growing American offshoot chain of retail markets that imports and sells Japanese goods in American. Unlike other Japanese supermarkets, which may carry non-Japanese products based on local diversity, Marukai has Hawaiian products as a core focus in addition to Japanese, not only in Hawaii, but all its stores.

The Delicatessen Store Associate is responsible for providing Customers with outstanding service through friendly, quick, efficient, accurate and safe assistance in the Deli/Ramen Department.

The ideal candidate must possess the following licenses:

  • Possesses a food handling license.
  • Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a “Certified Food Safety Manager” or will be required to attend company paid training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position in which it is required.


  • 0-2 years of experience in working in a kitchen.
  • Maintains good communication with management, associates, vendors, and outside contacts ensures associates receive proper training and supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a knife grip in order to cut fish or other seafood to specification.
  • Ability to withstand for long periods a working environment of 45°F or more.
  • Ability to meet productivity standards established by Marukai Corporation.
  • Ability to use in-store computer system and scanning equipment.
  • Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate Sushi products per Marukai’s standards.


  • Assists the Deli Manager in meeting the sales and profit projections of the store.
  • Meets or exceeds Deli Department’s sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures.
  • Works various shifts or days as assigned by the Deli Manager in accordance with the Company’s business needs.
  • Ensures Deli is handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised to present a pleasing image for optimum traffic flow
  • Safely operates department equipment including slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper.
  • Assists customers with special requests and answers questions about our Sushi products and services.
  • Maintains good communication with store management, associates and outside contacts
  • Other tasks as assigned by Deli Manager.
