Basic Function

Kohler is looking for a highly passionate, experienced, motivated Content Editor to join our in-house communications agency. The position will play a key role on a team that creates corporate brand messaging globally for a leader in kitchen and bath products, engine and power generator systems, decorative products, and golf and resorts.

You’ll be a fast learner, strategic thinker, team player and be comfortable writing about everything from social impact to product technology, from resort destinations to our sponsorship of Manchester United, and everything in between. With a multitude of brands under the Kohler name, you’ll need to be ready to roll up your sleeves, dig into the frequent requests that will come your way, accept content input from a variety of sources and work it into fresh, compelling and thought-provoking content for an array of internal and external touchpoints. This position is frequently fast-paced and requires someone that thrives on pressure and can deliver on time.

Primary Responsibilities:
Understand story fundamentals to create clear, concise and impactful content for associates, stakeholders and customers.

Writing copy specifically for print, digital, social, newsletters, publications, presentations, events and collateral. Experience in re-purposing stories across platforms.
Work collaboratively with various subject matter experts, corporate account management, business unit leaders and our creative team to oversee the production of strategic, compelling stories.
Develop an understanding of the organization and then boil complex ideas down into usable language for internal and external audiences.
Experience in creating strategic communication plans (from research through measurement/evaluation) and in designing specific content strategies to meet organizational objectives.
Act as project coordinator within the organization helping to manage internal and external relationships to procure all elements of corporate communication initiatives.

Build, maintain and execute editorial communication calendar and digital project work-flow systems.

Visual, audio and content creation experiences, as well as a developed ear/eye for best practices in each.

Ability to manage and prioritize content on one or more digital communications platforms targeted at Kohler associates.

Working knowledge of Sharepoint, Social Chorus, Facebook, Instagram and video editing software preferred.

Skills/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required (preferably with a focus in Journalism, English or Communications)

Highly committed individual with seven to ten years of experience, preferably with an agency or in-house communications department.

A strong portfolio demonstrating writing, editing, and production work.

Demonstrated expertise of APA Style.

Possess a passion for storytelling with a desire to learn the business.
