A Medical Administrative Assistant performs tasks specific to the healthcare industry and general administrative duties. General tasks may include answering the phone, ordering supplies, sorting mail, and creating invoices. Tasks that might require specialized knowledge include updating and maintaining patient medical records, processing insurance forms, scheduling patient appointments/tests or medical procedures as well as coordinating lab services.
High School Diploma or GED is required. Must have acquired the knowledge/skills to do data entry into a computer and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. A degree or certification as a Medical Assistant and/or training as a CNA is preferred.
Two years of clinical experience in a medical office and/or hospital setting is preferred. Medical Terminology and Clinical Assistant Skills preferred.
