Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) is currently seeking an experienced, dedicated Animal Behavior & Training Specialist to facilitate life-long placements of pets through education and training. Be a part of Los Angeles’ oldest and largest animal welfare organization, serving Southern California since 1877.
- Use positive reinforcement training methods to implement in-house shelter animal programs.
- Lead group training classes for the public, as well as for volunteers and staff.
- Provide on-site counseling for potential adopters and more!
At spcaLA, you’ll enjoy competitive wages and excellent benefits (including 401K with matching). This is a full-time, non-exempt position, working out of the spcaLA P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village in Long Beach and/or the spcaLA South Bay Pet Adoption Center in Hawthorne.
Essential qualifications: Paid training experience independently teaching group classes required; attendance at a variety of animal training & behavior classes, workshops, & seminars; high school diploma (college degree or equivalent preferred); CPDT-KA, KPA, CTC certification or equivalent preferred; practical experience handling dogs & cats (previous shelter work experience highly desirable).

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
