The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation’s lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
The role includes work on department administration, department wide projects, document review, basic legal research and strategic initiatives, including:
preparation of presentation materials
tracking progress of projects and initiatives
substantive document review
basic project management work
coordinating schedules and meeting scheduling and management
onboarding and offboarding of employees
Day to day duties include scheduling and managing the calendar of a busy team, including scheduling meetings and appointments, logistics coordination, travel schedules, processing expense statements and reserving conference rooms as necessary. Daily routine also includes interaction with various executive level internal clients and partners across the lines of businesses and control functions. The duties and functions will require confidentiality, initiative, sound decision-making, independent judgment and the ability to escalate serious or unique problems to higher levels.
Prepare and edit impactful and well-designed presentations and reports for team supported. Create and maintain online content (e.g., intranet). Actively participate in department projects and strategic initiatives. Develop appropriate trackers for document review projects. Maintain Practice Group specific policies and procedures. Assist in developing and coordinating meeting agendas and recording follow-ups, take-aways and action items from meetings.
Review and negotiate routine legal documentation (such as non-disclosure agreements) with the supervision of an attorney.
Telephone coverage for team. Proactively manage the calendars of multiple team members and work effectively to coordinate/plan meetings and conference calls, which may involve numerous time zones. Coordinate group coverage (e.g.., vacations, training and temporary assistance). Book international & domestic travel arrangements and organize itineraries with minimal supervision. Process timely and accurate travel expense reports and coordinate with attorneys and Legal Billing Unit on outside counsel invoices/billing issues. Develop and maintain electronic and hard copy files as needed in accordance with firm policies. Assist with staff onboarding and offboarding. Manage general office administrative needs.

Bachelor’s degree a plus
5 years plus prior experience as a paralegal with a large law firm or a financial institution would be a plus but not required.
Proven technical skills, highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, etc.), Adobe Professional and SharePoint, with demonstrated ability to learn and master new technology such as document management, matter and spend management systems quickly.
Enthusiastic, self-motivated, effective under pressure, proactive, and flexible. Able to work with minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required with the ability to produce high quality emails and messages to individuals at all levels of the organization.
Excellent telephone skills and executive presence.
