As a Senior Product Engineer reporting within New Product Integration (NPI) group, you will be leading the integration of new energy storage products into Stem’s offerings and developing technical solutions to support their installation and on-going operation. This role requires you to work across multiple internal and external stakeholders, including Stem’s direct and partner sales teams, along with the product management, software, and hardware teams within the Product Development organization. You will be the primary liaison and expert on these energy storage products and “own” the entire product lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in developing and/or integrating Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and have a strong understanding of multi-megawatt Front-of-the-Meter (FTM) applications, and a familiarity with industry standards related to distributed energy resources. You know what it takes to integrate an ESS from initial concept to system go-live.

BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, advanced degree preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in Energy/Utilities sector
Experience delivering systems that incorporate batteries, solar and power conversion systems
Experience with DAS, SCADA, RTUs, and related intelligent electrical devices
Knowledge of electrical product certifications, standards and codes a
Experience supporting field teams who build and service distributed power systems
Deep understanding of power systems operations and distributed energy systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Teamwork and collaboration with multi-disciplined technical and non-technical teams
Curiosity, strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Technical Leadership: Lead integration of new ESS products into Stem’s Athena platform/architecture. Become the owner of all product information resources, including specifications and system drawings. Responsible for productizing all hardware and software integration efforts. Become the product’s subject matter expert (SME) and act as a liaison to all internal and external parties. Lead periodic meetings and trainings with internal stakeholders, vendors, partners, and end-customers.
Solution Delivery: Assist Deployment team, EPCs, and Partners in deploying the system in the field. Understand permitting and interconnection requirements. Work with clients, utility personnel, contractors, and project stakeholder to ensure all technical and safety requirements are met for large scale C&I and FTM energy storage projects.
Sales Enablement: Formally productize offering. Integration strategy and design should be modularized and repeatable so that our sales team can present and offer solution to end-customers.
