The Electrical Wire Harness Design Engineer is responsiblefor product design, improvements, documentation, and analysis as well asproviding technical expertise and knowledge in support of all engineeringprojects. The Electrical Wire Harness Design Engineer will workcollaboratively with other members of the Engineering team to ensure thatprojects are completed in a timely manner.

Sourcing Specialists are experts whohelp make the sourcing process of a company or institution more efficient. Theydo this through building relationships with suppliers, negotiating cost anddeveloping agreements that ultimately help a company grow and become moreprofitable.

The Sourcing Specialist plays athird-party role, advising and consulting their company, making recommendationsto upper-level staff members. They can work in a wide variety of industries andsettings. Some work on a contract basis.

Sourcing Responsibilities

· Preparerequest for quotation and purchase orders in timely manner and obtain POacknowledgements from suppliers

· Respondto internal requests for expedited quote or delivery to meet customerexpectations

· Supportspecial projects or initiatives as required

· Workingwith engineering in quoting and sourcing new parts

· Negotiatesthe purchase terms and prices with vendors

· Reviewthe disposition of all defective material received from suppliers

· AnalyzesMRP to manage inventory levels, safety stock and future requirements

· Work withsupplier to resolve procurement issues including but not limited to price,quality, service and delivery

· Insureon-time delivery

· Responsiblefor releasing purchase orders and qualification for all new parts

· Coordinateswith suppliers to determine material availability and expedite order processing

· Identifiescritical items to receiving and incoming inspection to ensure priority handlingand smooth material flow

· Coordinatesexpediting activities, communicates change requirements to vendors

· Coordinatesdiscrepancy resolution (material, shipping, invoice), investigation/resolutionof other issues regarding purchase orders

Wire Harness Responsibilities

· Programautomated wire processing equipment to cut and terminate wires (Komax andSchleuniger)

· CreateStandard Work for assembly operations

· Participatein Design for Manufacturability efforts

· Supportmanufacturing floor for production and R&D prototype assemblies

· Reviewproduction equipment and assembly lines to ensure proper and safe operation

· Developroutings

· Createmanufacturing instructions for wire harness assemblies

· Interactwith customers to help create cost-effective solutions

· Generatedocumentation including: harness layouts, wiring diagrams, BOMs, quotes, andquality forms that are consistent with our procedures and policies

· Work wellin a team environment

· Promotequality throughout the facility

· Proficientlyuse computer software


  • 1-3 years of sourcing experience, or competency in related field
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of commodity
  • Show proficiency in basic computer applications

· Excellentverbal and written communication skills

· H.S.Diploma- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience

· Goodtime-management skills

· Organizedand analytical with relentless attention to detail

· 1-3Years’ experience in building wire harnesses

· EngineeringClasses helpful

· Abilityto read and understand schematics/drawings

· Experiencein using hand tools and various machinery such as wire processing machines,crimp applicators, crimp tools, heat guns, soldering irons, cable strippers,cable cutters, etc.

· Goodunderstanding of wire prep, soldering crimping, splicing, tie wrapping, markingand labeling, etc.

· Familiarityas to which connectors need locks and seals and what pins or sockets go withwhat connector

· Haveknowledge as to what crimp tool is used with which terminal

· Experienceperforming electrical testing using various test equipment

· VeryStrong attention to detail

· Abilityto work independently and as part of a team
