Under the direction of General Counsel and Associate General Counsel, provides legal support to home health, hospice, home care, and senior living operations as part of a dynamic in-house legal department. Among other functions, the position will assist in the drafting, proofing, and finalizing of forms and other legal documents, including those related to litigation; will be responsible for calendaring legal matters; maintaining legal, compliance and regulatory files; and designing and improving processes and procedures to ensure consistent performance of complex and routine tasks. Through the successful performance of the position’s essential functions, the individual selected for this position will have a direct impact on the legal department’s successful delivery of outstanding legal services.


  • Review and proofread transactional, litigation, and other legal documents and correspondence.
  • Assist with all facets of litigation support, including support oversight of contracted outside counsel.
  • Assist in acquisition activity, including organizing due diligence information, filing change of ownership documents with each government agency, and completing acquisition closing binders.
  • Act as company liaison with insurance company and point person to the field on basic insurance questions and claim submission.
  • Facilitate clinician/compliance/legal resource in editing clinical policies and procedures.
  • Review requests for medical records and subpoenas, and provide guidance to the operations for responding.
  • Perform various administrative functions supporting legal department attorneys.
  • Work both independently and within a team on nonrecurring as well as ongoing projects.
  • Effectively utilize computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Smartsheet). Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

  • Associates degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of two years paralegal/legal assistant experience.
  • Law firm or corporate in-house experience preferred; within the health care industry a plus.
  • Able to handle a demanding workload touching upon a wide variety of areas of the law.
  • Strong organizational/communication/analytical skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, diplomatic, proactive, self-motivated, dependable, and driven by excellence.
