Power Distributors, LLC is the Sales and Distribution arm for Briggs and Stratton, the leading manufacturer of air-cooled gasoline engines and parts for outdoor power equipment. Briggs and Stratton engines are incorporated into products for both the consumer market and industrial/commercial applications. We are also responsible for the sales and marketing of Briggs and Stratton Power Products including consumer and commercial generators, consumer and commercial pressure washers. Power Distributors also distributes Oregon Equipment Parts, Oregon Forestry products and several other allied parts lines.
The Staff Accountant will support the CFO, the Accounting Manager, and the FP&A Manager in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting/Finance Department. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and is located at our Columbus, OH office.
Perform full cycle month-end close process, including:
Journal entries (prepaids, accruals, T&E, rebate receivables, reclasses, depreciation/amortization, warehouse allocations, etc.)
Balance sheet reconciliations (payables, fixed assets, receivables, inventory, accrued expenses, intercompany)
Review and clear all exceptions related to fluctuations from prior month, variances to budget/forecast, and/or unnatural or unexpected balances
Assist with preparation of financial statements
Review items posted to asset accounts for compliance with capitalization policy
Maintain fixed asset software system
Assist Accounting Manager and CFO with year-end audit requirements
Assist FP&A Manager with various assignments (creation of monthly variance analysis reports, departmental P&Ls, development of full year forecasting process)
Perform other duties/special projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
CPA/MBA candidate preferred
2-4 years of general ledger experience
Microsoft Office experience (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Advanced Excel required; Access preferred)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to think strategically and use analytical skills to support business objectives
Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines and requests.
Ability to work in and promote a team environment
Effective in both internal and external verbal and written communications
Ability to work with management and staff members in multiple offices.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Limited travel is expected for this position.
