Job Description
Reports to: Clinic Manager; Director of Cardiovascular Services
Summary:
We are looking for someone to work in our growing cardiology practices located in Appleton and Oshkosh.
The Clinic Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists the physician, Advanced practice provider (APP) or RN with patient care in cardiac office setting. The MA/LPN works as part of a team and demonstrates a willingness to share in all aspects of the work that is required to meet the needs of the patient and the clinic. Requires the ability to make appropriate decisions, follow clinical protocols, understand basic EKG rhythms, and seek necessary recommendations from the physician and nurse teams.
Requirements:
- CMA/RMA/LPN licensed in the State of Wisconsin
- BLS
- Effective verbal and written skills
Responsibilities:
- Provides patient care that meets the growth and development, cultural diversity, and special needs appropriate to the patient population served.
- Preparing, updating (obtain and record patient data in medical record for upcoming appointment noting any significant cardiac related tests or events), and reviewing charts for clinic visits
- Rooming patients for the MD or APC and recording patient data which may include a brief history, chief complaint and vital signs, reviewing and updating medication lists, scheduling ordered tests, and tracking those results, which will include a review of systems, allergies, medication, pharmacy patient uses, social HX and obtaining vitals.
- Recognize and communicate pertinent patient information to provider in written or oral form.
- Interpret basic cardiac test results for deviation from normal and alert appropriate team member in a timely fashion.
- Give verbal and/or written instructions and answer patients’ questions pertaining to provider recommendations.
- Phone in prescriptions and refills as directed by provider or RN.
- Tracking tests ordered by provider and maintaining orders list.
- Schedule / reschedule patient tests, office visits, etc. as required through follow up process.
- Route test results to provides to review.
- Perform EKGs, download and stock EKG machine
- Sort and prioritize MD mail.
- Stock and replenish exam room, office supplies, and educational materials as needed.
- Maintain stock of drug cards and contact reps if more are needed
- Help in other departments as necessary.
- Accompany providers at outreach clinics as assigned.
- Assist other health care providers in an emergency situation.
- Maintaining a neat and clean work area
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, and organizational in-services.
- Complies with all practice policies and procedures, state, and federal regulations
- Demonstrate proficiency in use of office equipment (EKG machine, copier, fax, etc)
- Ability to use computer system to obtain patient information, update data, and check messages.
- Knowledge of use of gait belts, slide and pivot boards, and Hoyer lifts.
- Effective communication skills with patients to obtain detailed patient histories
- Complete all necessary learnings as assigned by HVW.
- Performs additional duties as required or assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, sitting, bending and standing for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 30lbs.
- Able to push or pull over 100lbs with assistance.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
