We have a 1099 contractor opportunity with a Pomeroy client for an onsite Data Center Technician in Mayfield Heights, OH. This is a 12-month contract with potential to extend.
Schedule: Onsite, Monday thru Friday, 8am to 5pm Eastern
Responsibilities:
- Assess patching requirements for server, network, and backbones
- Install patch cables at clients’ request, routing properly and labeling
- Whenever possible bulk patching under one CR
- Patch server/appliance into appropriate patch panel, patching on patch fields, and/or SDF to switches.
- Forecast and maintain sufficient patch cables in stock
- Track patched switch port details
- Patch cable troubleshooting or replacing patch cables
- Escort and assist hardware vendor / service provider etc. (Incident / break-fix task)
- Check or troubleshoot cables/patching tasks
- Power Cycling/manage power tasks
- Maintain an inventory of devices hosted in data center space.
- Produce a report including all data requested by client.
- Provide hardware triage support services, consisting of OEM Standard Warranty Repair Services, Enhanced Warranty Repair Service, Post Warranty Repair and Out of Warranty Repair as applicable, for Devices.
- Test for functionality of the Device and network connectivity.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a data center technician, or similar.
- In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network equipment.
- Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment.
- Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support, and resolve errors.
- Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies.
- Proficiency in documenting network processes.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Willingness to respond to network and server errors as needed.
