Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled RN L&D to provide care to mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum, while also caring for newborns immediately after birth. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, have strong clinical skills, and thrive in an environment that requires quick thinking and effective communication.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive care to patients in labor, including monitoring fetal heart rates, administering medications, and assisting with pain management techniques.
- Support the delivery process by assisting physicians and midwives, and providing emotional support to mothers and their families.
- Care for newborns immediately following birth, including Apgar scoring, administering newborn medications, and ensuring stable vital signs.
- Educate mothers on postpartum care and newborn care, offering guidance on breastfeeding, nutrition, and recovery.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records using electronic health systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards to ensure a safe delivery environment.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience in a hospital setting.
- Experience with neonatal resuscitation and fetal monitoring is essential.
- Strong clinical skills, including the ability to handle emergencies during labor and delivery.
Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of Alaska.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required.
