We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Database Administrator.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Systems and Databases this position will be responsible for all of the daily maintenance, monitoring, performance analysis, trouble shooting, problem resolution, backups, and user assistance required of the Oracle and Progress databases in a high availability environment. The Database Administrator will provide guidance, best practices, and assistance in any area of the entire application infrastructure associated with or to the databases managed.

Manage and control all daily operational activities related to database management and administration.
Assist the software development team in managing performance issues in all custom code released to the production environment.
Perform database upgrade and patch activities.
Act as primary resource with software vendors for resolving problems.
Monitor and report database capacity and performance metrics.
Drive continuous improvement while insuring that all application systems and procedures are planned, built, maintained, executed, etc. in accordance with company standards.
Respond to requests for technical assistance remaining on-call evenings and weekends for emergencies
Adhere to and comply with information systems security. Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered. Report information systems security problems.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Complete special projects as assigned by Director.
Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Related field, preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years experience
Experience all all aspects of Oracle/Progress database management in a large/challenging database environment on a Linux/Unix environment.
Working knowledge of MariaDB, MySQL, Postgres, and Redshift databases.
Strong proficiency with database administration in a Linux (Debian and RHEL) and traditional Unix systems
Working knowledge of virtualization technology (VmWare).
Strong working knowledge of scripting and programming in bash, perl, and posix shells.
Working knowledge of AWS including EC2, S3, RedShift, VPC’s, and IAM.
Strong analytical, problem solving, teamwork and customer support skills required.
Must be able to work efficiently in a team atmosphere.
HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley and other critical governmental regulations.
EVPS business models.
Convey thoughts (orally and in writing) in a well-organized, concise manner. Use appropriate grammar and punctuation in written documents.
Perform in a consistently-organized manner with strong attention to detail.
Perform duties and handle large volumes of work, while working under pressure within tight time constraints, in an environment of changing and competing priorities.
Willingness to work on call DBA and Unix rotations in a 7x24 environment and expected to handle a mix of database management and systems responsibilities.
Ability to perform professional level technical documentation and presentation.
Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships.
Proficient at time and priority management.
Strong analytical, problem solving, teamwork and customer support skills required.
Working knowledge of database definition, structure, documentation, operational guidelines and protection
Excellent general computer skills including word processing (Word, Pages, etc), spreadsheet (Excel, Numbers, etc), and email (Outlook).
