Job Description

The Skechers IT Program Manager (IT PgM) Retail Systems is to oversee the Retail Systems Modernization projects which Information Technology is implementing for the Retail group within Skechers. Under the direction of the Information Technology team, this person will be responsible for all aspects of functional program management for the modernization projects and hold a key position for aligning people, projects and programs across multiple divisions to ensure flawless execution of the strategic initiative for Skechers.

Objectives Of This Role

The incumbent will oversee the project management aspects of each retail modernization project, acting as the conductor for the overall program. They must bring relevant Retail Systems experience to the table and will utilize past experiences at other Retail organizations to provide business knowledge and insight for the retail modernization program. They will be required to partner with both the Information Technology team and the Retail business partners. Duties include:

Develop comprehensive program and project plans, which will include staffing, responsibilities, and schedule
Provide insight and guidance on retail processes and operations
Collaborate closely with the business unit stakeholders and IT teams to identify and document detailed requirements, process flows, data sources, functional and technical solution design, workstreams, testing/QA, implementation, training, and retrospectives
Establish themselves as the primary point of contact for the project teams across various components of the program
Ensure stakeholder alignment by partnering with the Skechers IT team to define project team member roles and expectations, ensuring an active, engaged project team
Coordinate all project activities with IT leaders and their teams (Business Applications, Infrastructure, Information Security, PMO, Business Operations), and business unit owners/stakeholders
Understand the cultural, regional and process differences for the global environment and work to act as a broker to ensure consistent processes for a global project, whilst identifying region-specific differences and requirements
Partnering with the I.T. team to define team member roles and expectations, and ensuring timely feedback
Capture baseline for project plan and clearly setup/assign project tasks

Responsibilities

Facilitate consensus-building conferences, workshops, and team meetings
Maintain and communicate rules of engagement for new and existing projects that make up the program
Synthesize analytics, experience, and intuition to produce good judgment calls in support of Retails’ strategic direction
Balancing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risks from a business perspective
Review and manage all changes to the requirements through a formally defined scope change process
Oversee the daily management of each project within the program with respect to requirements gathering, design, development, test, and deployment
Coordinating all project activities with business owners/stakeholders and other support, technical infrastructure, and application teams
Communicating frequently with executive leadership to provide program risk analysis, status, and analysis of requirements that might impact strategic direction
Collaborating closely with the business owners/stakeholders and technical teams to identify and document detailed requirements, process flows, and data sources
Provide project oversight/audit compliance related to established department processes and standards for projects managed by others
Facilitate as escalation point to Sr Management, Stakeholders and Steering Committees for risks, mitigations and resolutions related to the modernization effort
The successful candidate will be both self-motivated and collaborative as is necessary to operate in the realm of retail technology projects, interacting with team members and vendors to resolve issues quickly
Ensure that project resources are used effectively
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Project and Program Management

Proven ability to execute high-profile, multi-million-dollar Retail transformation projects and to provide thought leadership to the organization
Proven track record with both working with technical & functional teams
Experience with the unique issues and needs of enterprise-wide retail technology projects
Extensive Retail Systems project management experience is absolutely required – the right candidate must have managed several large-scale Retail Systems implementations
Expertise in managing client relationships and negotiating changes to commitments/requirements
Experience with formal SDLC and business analysis methodologies
Able to take strategic direction from executive management and participate in strategic planning activities throughout the lifetime of the project
Ability to work well with technical and non-technical resources
Manage/oversee project plan, scope, risks, issues, budget, milestones, tasks, deliverables, resources, schedule, communications plan, adoption, and all other project management-related documentation and tasks
Perform day-to-day oversight and management of the project team and project stages, avoiding scope creep to ensure a successful project outcome
Ensure that project resources are used effectively and efficiently
Demonstrated excellence in communications (verbal and written), presentation, financial management, analytical and customer focus skills
Communicate frequently with executive leadership, both IT and the business, to provide project status updates including risk assessment, reports, potential scope changes, requirements changes, issues, potential delays, budget changes, or other information deemed important by the executives
Able to review project deliverables for completeness, quality and compliance with established project standards
Measure and monitor progress at clearly defined points in the process to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and that it meets or exceeds expectations
Able to see tasks through to completion with minimal guidance
Compare final project outcomes against initial project baseline

Communication

Proven ability to carry a natural conversation and drive a productive dialogue about business processes and related needs for IT or Technology solutions
Proven excellence in business writing skills and in taking meeting notes
Must able to focus and demonstrate strong active listening skills
Must be able to listen to others, organize thoughts and concisely communicate ideas, situations, problems, etc.
Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate meetings effectively
Must have refined interpersonal skills and able to work with management and staff in IT and Business Units

Possess strong judgment with regard to scope, deliverables, timeline, and budget management

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Master’s Degree preferred
The preferred candidate will have 6+ years’ experience as a Project Manager with at least 10 years work experience desired
In-depth experience with ServiceNow PPM, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Project Server
(or other project management tools, i.e. Clarity)
In-depth experience in Agile methodologies (SDLC, SCRUM, RUP, RUN, XP)
PMP, CSM Certifications preferred
Other duties as assigned
