Description of Duties/Essential Functions
Under direction of the Clinical Services Supervisor, preforms duties involving complex and technical responsibilities, coordinated in effort with other staff, reviews initial incoming grievances for indication of Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) violations, or concerns of imminent danger; services as unit secretary; keyboards complex charts, statistical reports, documents, forms, memoranda and letters; collects and date stamps all incoming grievances and Clinical Services mail; logs grievances documenting in Case History and Management Program (CHAMP); distributes offender grievances; uses microcomputer to respond to internal/external queries; completes special projects. Serves as a member of the internal facility review team. Provides clerical support to placement and record office as needed.
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two years of related office experience, or two years of independent business experience. Requires extensive knowledge of office practices, procedures and programs. Requires extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation. requires extensive knowledge of basic mathematics. Requires working knowledge of the logic of computer programs. Requires ability to follow oral and written instructions. Requires ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment and preform routine maintenance. Requires ability to keyboard accurately 30 words per minute. Requires the ability to pass an Illinois Department of Corrections background check.

Anticipated Starting Salary: $3,176/month; $38,112/year
Current bargaining unit employees – Contractual language applies
Full bargaining unit range: $38,112/year - $52,812/year
WORK HOURS: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with Saturday / Sunday off.
