Job Description

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Copy Manager for BHG Walmart will be responsible for writing copy that is needed for in store packaging of the BHG products being sold at Walmart. This position is embedded in the Walmart packaging team. This will allow for the expeditious work needed to support the sku growth and expansion of the Better Homes and Gardens products sold at Walmart.

Writes the packaging content (for example, product names, instructional content, features) for brand by collaborating with business partners (for example, merchants, product development, suppliers) to determine objectives for each brand; prioritizing projects based on criticality; determining needed information for customer impact; writing standards packaging content based on business needs and customer expectations; coordinating content development; developing and specification for brand-specific style guides; editing content; collaborating with cross-functional teams (for example, Legal, Compliance, Ethical Standards) to ensure compliance with federal, state, and foreign governmental regulations and information standards; ensuring accuracy and timeliness on required deliverables; and presenting packaging content to senior leadership.


Provides and supports the implementation of copy and content solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.


Supports the continuous improvement within brand packaging by identifying areas of opportunity and innovation; researching industry trends and best practices and applying them to brand needs; developing innovative solutions to packaging needs; promoting and maintaining internal and external partnerships; assessing existing and proposed packaging copy to ensure alignment across the brand; and establishing efficient workflow processes and best practices.


Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.


Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans by demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or related field and 2 years experience in retail editorial or marketing writing, editing and copy management, or related field OR 4 years experience in retail editorial or marketing writing, editing and copy management, or related field.

4 years experience with proofreading and editing.

3 years experience in brand building.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Microsoft Office suite (for example, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

% Travel Required (Approximate) :5%
