SEH is looking for a Paralegal in the St. Paul office!

We are growing our team and seeking a highly organized, and detail oriented person that can take this role and make it their own. We are looking for a skilled Paralegal to maintain corporate and personal licensure, as well as assist litigation. To be successful in this role, the candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of legal research, contract drafting and analysis. Ideally we would like someone with experience in the engineering industry.

Responsibilities may include:
  • The primary coordinator for filing out and maintaining professional licenses and corporate registrations
  • Assisting the legal department with reporting and presentation preparation
  • Legal document preparation, drafting and transmittal
  • Legal department records maintenance
  • Filing, data entry, general clerical duties, compiling reports, process paperwork, and administer processes in accordance with guidelines and procedures
  • Assists in training and advising other support staff to ensure efficient and consistent conduct of the company business
  • Assist staff with certificate of insurance issues with clients and sub-consultants
  • Conduct training sessions with other admin staff covering insurance, project administration, contract assembly and claim prevention topics
  • Assist with audits
  • Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes
  • Identify trends, issues, potential risks and liabilities, and alert attorneys accordingly

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of an Associates degree and Paralegal Certification required
  • Minimum three (3) years experience with a law firm or in-house counsel as a legal assistant or paralegal
  • Highly organized with a minimal need for supervision and a can-do attitude, with the ability to take direction when necessary
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Highly intelligent with the ability to explain complex legal issues to all levels of staff
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Team player capable of generating a high level of trust and respect from various departments and staff
  • Strong internet and legal research skills
  • Personal transportation and a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with EJCDC, AIA, DBIA and AGC contract forms
  • Knowledge of architecture and engineering laws and regulations
