Program: High Speed Wind Tunnel
Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking an Electronics Instrumentation Technician for a position in Grand Prairie, TX to work under the direction of the Lead engineer or Lab manager at the Company's supersonic wind tunnel facility.
Selected candidate will assist in operating and maintaining the High Speed Wind Tunnel (HSWT) Laboratory and its equipment supporting testing and test preparation. Position requires a general knowledge of laboratory operations and test practices, electrical equipment, electronic test equipment and familiarity with engineering terminology. Previous experience soldering electronic components under a microscope is a plus.
Primary responsibilities include soldering and ability to learn strain gage lay-up techniques for fabrication of wind tunnel force and moment balances and balance calibration procedures requiring repetitive lifting of weights in 5 lb. to 25 lb. increments. Ability to perform gage lay-up and wiring of specimen under a microscope. Selected candidate must have demonstrated strong electronics skills, be able to read schematics and fabricate electronics hardware from them. Candidate must be able to maintain accurate operations and stock inventory records in computer databases. Will be responsible for monitoring test equipment and wind tunnel instrumentation and control systems to ensure accurate test results and avoid damage to the test facility, instrumentation or wind tunnel models. Candidate must possess basic computer skills and be able to navigate in a Windows environment. Candidate will interface with multiple computer systems for controlling the acquisition and processing of electronic data signals.
Other responsibilities include installation of wind tunnel models, test specimens, instrumentation as well as a variety of specialized mechanical, electrical and electronic test equipment. Candidate will provide support in the planning and implementation of preventive maintenance of equipment and participate in troubleshooting of laboratory systems.
Selected candidate must have active or recent DoD SECRET clearance or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance. In times of heavy work surge, candidate may be required to support night shift or weekend test operations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong electronics trouble shooting skills
- Ability to read electrical/electronic schematics
- Experience soldering under a microscope
- Ability to work night shift and rotating shifts
- Ability to work overtime
- Active/Recent SECRET clearance or ability to obtain & maintain clearance
Desired Skills:
- Experience with data acquisition instrumentation
- Experience with test equipment such as volt meters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
