The Information Technology (IT) Enterprise Services Subscription and Product team is looking for a passionate web services developer to join us as an Associate Software Applications Engineer in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you’ll help us deliver API and event-based solutions that help bring our subscriptions and products to customers. Red Hat subscriptions are foundational to how customers purchase, install, and manage products across Red Hat's portfolio of open source solutions. As such, many systems internal and external to Red Hat rely on fast and always available access to and management of this key enterprise data. From initial product inception all the way to order processing and subscription management, these APIs and backend services are critical to delivering value to Red Hat's customers.
Primary job responsibilities
Design, develop, document, test, maintain, review, secure, and operate multi-site HTTP services and message-based middleware, both in public and private cloud Red Hat OpenShift environments
Work closely with domain experts to analyze and codify business requirements
Design database schemas, indexes, and transaction boundaries within performance and scalability constraints
Collaborate with Red Hat IT's application and integration platform teams
Participate in periodic Level 1 application support rotation
2+ years of experience in Java or other object-oriented languages
2+ years of experience using Oracle, MySQL or Maria, or MongoDB
1+ years of experience with REST or SOAP HTTP services
1+ years of experience developing applications working in an agile development environment
1+ years of experience administering Linux systems
1+ years of experience with distributed source control tools like Git or Mercurial
1+ years of experience working with continuous integration (CI) tools and processes
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or another closely related field
Experience with the following is considered a plus:
Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes
NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra
Swagger or OpenAPI
Working on open source projects
Red Hat JBoss Fuse or Apache Camel
Red Hat JBoss AMQ, Apache ActiveMQ, or Apache ActiveMQ Artemis
Puppet, Chef, or Ansible
