Lead Landscape Gardener
Are you at a landscaping company that seems to be missing something? Maybe you feel unappreciated or stagnant. The promotions you were promised have never come to fruition. Perhaps you’re not getting consistent full-time employment, or proper training to keep you safe.
You’ve come to the realization that you want something different. A more dynamic position, where you’ll apply all your knowledge and skills. A landscape company, where you’ll grow both personally and professionally. It’s important for you to be a highly-valued team member. We understand.
So, who are we?
We do things differently. The Natural Option LLC is a boutique landscaping company that applies ecological solutions to preserve and enhance environmental health and sustainability. We deliver exceptional service in design/build and gardening for high-end residential clients. We’re very proud that our clients, some longer than 15 years, appreciate our expertise and our philosophy of being stewards of the land.
The owner created The Natural Option - over two decades ago. After working for chemical-friendly, status-quo landscape companies, she realized this is not the path we should take. We don’t use hazardous chemicals. We follow mother nature’s path in providing safe and healthy outdoor spaces. That’s why we work with amazing clients.
The Lead Landscape Gardener
We’re seeking a professional residential gardener to lead our maintenance team. You’ll be caring for exceptional gardens. You won’t be just another foreman or lead as you find at larger companies, but a highly-valued team member.
So, who are you?
You’re a well-seasoned gardener and team-player with ambition to be the best. You value safe and sustainable landscape practices. You prefer caring for specialty gardens that require your type of talent.
Here are a few skills and characteristics you’ll need to join us:
Educated and Experienced: Ideally, you have an associates or higher degree in horticulture or related field, and at least 5-years experience in residential fine gardening. You have great knowledge of Pacific Northwest plant ID. You’re experienced in sustainable gardening and implement IPM practices. You utilize proper pruning techniques to preserve the natural form of trees and shrubs. You’re savvy with seasonal containers, basic irrigation, lighting and water feature maintenance.
Natural Leader: You’re successful in managing others through delegation, efficiency, and training. You lead by example with integrity and professionalism.
Creative Thinker: You enjoy problem solving in the field. You accept challenges with a positive attitude and turn them into opportunities. You’re a creative problem solver that enjoys educating our clients on sustainable solutions.
Eye for Detail: Whether it is tending to a garden or tending to paperwork, you catch the details. You’re accustomed to accurate record keeping, adhering to contracts, budgets, and time management.
Getting Physical: You enjoy the physical aspect of being a gardener. Hauling barrels, weeding on your hands and knees, and running power equipment is all in a day’s work. Of course, doing this all outside in all types of weather doesn’t faze you a bit.
So, why do you want to apply?
It’s a terrific job. You get to work alongside and learn from the owner. You and our team operate in a low-stress environment. We don’t do drama. In your new role, you’ll have the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Continuing education and training are key components of this position. Finally, you will always feel good about being a steward of the land. So, let’s grow together…naturally!
