We are searching for a dependable, customer service driven Patient Representative for our Westchester location. An ideal candidate would be a team player who works towards ensuring efficiency. Candidates must be able to multi-task and excel in a fast paced environment. This position will report to our Manager of Operations.

The physicians of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush have received specialized training in orthopedic surgery and in subspecialty areas within the field of orthopedic medicine and can diagnose and treat the most complicated and rare musculoskeletal conditions.

The Orthopedic Program at Rush University Medical Center is ranked fourth nationally by U.S. News and World Report. Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush doctors are the official team physicians for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, and the Chicago Fire Soccer Club.

We are looking for a Patient Representative at our Westchester, IL location, who would report to our Manager of Operations. We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains the highest level possible of customer service standard while performing patient check-ins, status updates, answering phones, etc.

Interviews patient or representative to obtain and record name, address, age, religion, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending Physician, and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of bill.

Verifies, updates, and scans new and returning patient information

Oversees patient tracking in the Electronic Medical Record while collecting co-pays and ensuring form completion.

Completes the patient check-out process, including collecting any outstanding balances, providing patient with correspondence from practices, and scheduling return appointments.

Enters patient admitting information into computer.

Obtains signed statement from patient to protect hospital's interests.

Collects copays and/or payments on account.

Maintains a positive demeanor with patients, peers, supervisors and physicians, especially when receiving feedback or direction

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least 2 years experience in a medical setting, and at least 5 years of customer service experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
