This position performs a wide variety of tasks involving construction, operation and maintenance of all City infrastructure. This job operates in a variety of both indoor and outdoor environments depending on needs. Hours are typically Monday-Friday from 7 am to 3 pm. In addition staff will be required to work scheduled "on-call" hours to respond to emergencies after-hours, holidays, and weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all aspects of the water systems, including the water meter system, mains, valves, fire hydrants, reservoir/pumphouse, towers, generators, etc.
Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all aspects of both sanitary sewer and storm sewer systems, including mains, manholes, catch basins, lift stations, controls, generators, etc.
Operate or assist with the operation of the CCTV inspection equipment.
Operate, repair, maintain and troubleshoot SCADA system.
Perform customer service work order calls and maintain work records within an asset management system.
Locate and mark underground utilities.
Perform snow and ice removal from city streets, parking lots, sidewalks and trails.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
18 years of age or older.
High School diploma or GED.
Valid MN Class B Driver's License, or ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
Ability to operate computer.
Ability to perform tasks, operate equipment, acquire licenses, and complete trainings required for this position.
Experience in construction or maintenance of a utility system, or equivalent training in a vocational or technical program.
Experience working in other divisions of municipal Public Works (Streets, Parks, Vehicle Maintenance).
Experience working with an asset management software program.
Possession of MDH Class D Water Operator license or higher.
Possession of MPCA Class S-D Wastewater Operator license or higher.
Possess a valid Minnesota Class "B" driver's license with tanker and air break endorsements.
Possession of a valid MN Class "A" CDL with no restrictions.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work is most often conducted outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions, and may work within confined spaces. Exposure to hazardous conditions, including operating power tools and equipment, and toxic materials, including raw sewage and hot asphalt. Employee is subject to noise while operating equipment and general noises in outdoor city environments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position, and frequently operate both heavy and light equipment/tools consistently found in public city street operations and maintenance and/or construction. Staff will frequently read and interpret documents, including safety manuals and operating procedures. Staff will frequently push/pull equipment and objects, traverse around the city, climb ladders, ditches and manholes, and move in confined spaces. Will frequently lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
