Job Duties:OUR CO-OP PROGRAM:
We are looking for a bright, energetic student to work in our Beverage Container Group. Our co-op program allows us to take advantage of student’s knowledge and experience in a variety of engineering disciplines and gives students invaluable experience working for a highly successful organization.

Co-op students may expect to gain experience working in several different areas:

Container Engineering: The Container Engineering Group is responsible for tooling design, container design, metal and cost calculations, and assisting manufacturing plants with production troubleshooting and optimization.

Mechanical Engineering Co-ops working on our container engineering work will:

Learn how to read, interpret and make mechanical engineering drawings using Ball’s drawing standards.
Work with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) while working on Ball and vendor drawings.
Gain experience in the design of cans, tooling, and machine parts used in our equipment to manufacture beverage containers.
Use sophisticated measuring tools including laser micrometers to measure cans, tooling, and machine parts.
Gain experience in troubleshooting problems with beverage containers through detailed analysis in our laboratory and in the manufacturing plant environment.

Responsibilities:
Provides technical support and pertinent information to plants, licensees, joint ventures, customers and other engineering groups.
Participates in troubleshooting investigations and corrective action of container tooling, machinery, and product related equipment.
Assists in investigating, developing, and implementing container related cost improvements in material usage, operating practices and equipment utilization.
Examines the cost of materials and processes with a goal of increasing quality and reducing overall manufacturing costs through evolutionary development programs.
Assists in coordinating and participates in project implementation, installation, check-out, tune-up, and start-up of new equipment.
Assists in providing liaison and technical support to other disciplines of production engineering and other departments.
Updates product, tooling, metal and packaging specifications and designs and disseminates this information.

Requirements:
Student in Mechanical Engineering.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Ability to functionally use a computer.
Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
Must be able to handle sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
Work under supervision/or follow specific detailed instructions following established procedures.
Ability to apply standard evaluation, selection, and adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with CAD programs – NX experience preferred (Container Engineering).
Travel: This position requires some domestic travel.

Position is located in Broomfield, Colorado. Students are responsible for their own travel to and from the Ball campus.
