Full Job Description
The Public Safety Officer position in the UT Police Department at Houston screens students, patients, staff, faculty and visitors entering the facilities of the MD Anderson Cancer Center and UT Health for proper identification. Through observation and patrol, the Public Safety Officer safeguards institutional property, identifies security issues and enforces institutional rules and regulations. In emergencies, the Public Safety Officer facilitates the orderly evacuation of the buildings and structures.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
Patrol -Patrols university buildings and property on foot to prevent theft, vandalism or fire.
Calls for Service - Responds to calls for service and provides requested services in a timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Screening - Actively screens all persons entering university facilities; challenges persons without appropriate identification and all suspicious persons.
Other Duties as Assigned - Other duties to include, but not limited to, emergency recall and/or may be required to remain onsite or work extended hours during man-made or natural disasters and unusual occurrences on campus.
Local or long distance travel may be required for training or other business purposes occasionally.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Required: One year of relevant work experience.
Service Excellence Skills Assessment
Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
License:
Required: Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license.
