Incumbent is responsible for assisting Loan Officers of Commercial Lending in conducting credit investigations and preparing credit memorandums for diversified types of loans, including construction, commercial and commercial real estate loans. Incumbent is to work closely with loan officers and members of senior management to evaluate new and existing credit requests; to analyze borrower's financial position by interpreting financial statements, projections, tax returns; to conduct internal loan reviews and monitoring; to prepare property evaluation and appraisal reviews; and to review legal loan documents.
Incumbent will underwrite commercial credits to enable Sterling?s Commercial Group to expand while ensuring that it stays in continuous compliance with the bank policies and banking regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
?h Collects, organizes, and analyses all data for loan requests.
?h Recommends loan structure and terms to Loan Officers.
?h Contacts customers for additional information and clarification of data.
?h Analyzes borrower's financial position by interpreting and evaluating financial statements, tax returns, and/or projections.
?h Performs cash flow, trend, and ratio analysis.
?h Analyzes rent rolls, A/R aging, leases, appraisal, environmental, and/or title reports.
?h Assigns and maintains the appropriate loan risk grades according to the Bank's Loan Policy.
?h Ensures that sources of repayment are sound and well documented.
?h Conducts loan related industry and market research.
?h Prepares a comprehensive credit memorandums and provides opinions and recommendations regarding proposed loans and potential risks.
?h Monitors borrowers' financial stability by analyzing financial statements and collateral.
?h Reviews loan documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to credit memorandum covenants and conditions.
?h Prepares quarterly Loan Review reports for certain credits
?h Assists in preparation of monthly Credit Administration reports.
?h Conducts analytical credit-relevant studies and industry research.
?h Possesses a keen understanding of the Bank's credit culture, Loan Policy, and current economic and industry trends.
?h Contributes to development of new policies, procedures, and methodologies.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
â??h Undergraduate from four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or related field.
â??h Three years or more direct experience in commercial and/or commercial credit underwriting and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
â??h Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
â??h Excellent analytical and strong MS Office skills.
â??h Understanding of the theories of credit underwriting and loan structuring.
â??h Thorough knowledge of banking laws and regulations.
Experience reviewing individual tax returns and financial statements is strongly preferred.
