Associate General Counsel, IP (Must have technology and corporate experience)
About This Role:
Independently manage Comscore’s global patent and trademark portfolio, including managing outside counsel and overseeing the preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications.
What You'll Do:
Grow the company’s patent portfolio organically by establishing and leading periodic patent harvesting sessions with key technology and product groups.
Develop and communicate IP strategy for Senior Executive team on a periodic basis.
Due diligence support for business development and counseling the business on all IP related matters, including freedom-to-operate analysis, agreements, third-party partnerships, and product development.
Counsel and represent company on patent, IP litigation, IP transactional, and licensing issues.
What You'll Need:
A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, admission to practice before the USPTO and licensed to practice in at least one state are required.
An undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
A minimum of 4 years working IN a corporate law department (meaning - not working at a law firm for a corp, but actually working at the corporation)
A demonstrated background in internet and digital media technologies (or at least experience with a software product)
Experience in the rendering of patentability and non-infringement opinions is required.
Experience in license drafting and negotiation is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel) is required.
Must be able give well organized, thoughtful presentations to upper management and translate highly technical information to those with limited technological background
Ability to communicate and work well with technologists
