Located on 14.5 park-like acres, Kahi Mohala's 88-bed facility is Hawaii's only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security.
The Chief Medical Officer directs and coordinates the medical and psychiatric services of the hospital. The incumbent is accountable to the Board of Trustees, for the quality and efficiency of medical services and professional performance within the hospital. The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the effectiveness of the quality review functions delegated to the medical staff, for implementing actions and recommendations of the Medical Executive Committee, and participates in activities to prepare for accreditation for the Joint Commission and other oversight bodies. The Chief Medical Officer implements and oversees evidence-based psycho-pharmacology initiatives, as well as assists in the development of promising practices and services in inpatient and outpatient care. The Chief Medical Officer will carry a caseload of two acute inpatients (or their equivalent), as well as manages facility admissions and physician productivity standards. The Chief Medical Officer also performs other duties required of the position by the Kahi Mohala Medical Staff Bylaws.
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with an M.D. or D.O.; satisfactory completion of an approved psychiatric residency training program; and meets the criteria to sit for the examination for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Is duly licensed to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii and has all necessary narcotics and controlled substances numbers and licenses.
Must maintain CME credits sufficient for licensure in State of Hawaii.
Prior work experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment setting as a psychiatrist. Experience with child and adolescent population.
Thorough knowledge of medication management, human development, psychiatric diagnosis, and intervention modalities with children, adolescents, and adults. Knowledge of and adherence to American Psychiatric Association ethical standards. Understanding of varying management techniques, working with budgets, planning and development of health care systems. A solid knowledge of The Joint Commission and the Continuing Quality Improvement concepts and processes.
Ability to effectively to work with a wide range of psychiatric treatment problems of patients and their families. Ability to cooperatively work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
