The Associate Merchandising Manager is responsible for the vendor relationships, strategy, oversight and performance of a category of business. They will work to develop solid relationships with multiple vendors, cruise lines and internal partners to drive results and solve problems at a category level. They will work to develop effective merchandising formats through analyzing business performance, trends, and store performance. The Associate Merchandising Manager will develop and maintain analytics, reports and present ideas to increase category performance.
What you’ll be doing:
Negotiate best possible pricing, terms, co-op, markdown, and vendor collateral with vendors to achieve category goals. Responsible for initial assortment selection, maintaining assortments based on current sales trends, and effectively communicating assortments to planning.
Partner with planning team to meet all merchandise sales, gross margin and weeks of supply plans. Ensure that assortment and brand line-up meet category-merchandising plans for sales and profit.
Review and analyze category, vendor, and ship performance. Reviews strategies and current business with DMM/GMM as needed.
Prepare visual directives and work with visual and marketing teams to implement to support assortment and drive sales.
Attend open to buy and support planner with business strategies. Initiate markdowns when necessary and maintain age standards. Present age update to senior management (as applicable).
Travel for market or visit ships to assist in set ups, merchandise shops and address concerns/issues (as necessary). Prepare for and conduct vendor meetings independently.

What we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis on Merchandising, or other relevant business related subjects.
Experience reading and analyzing sales reports; knowledge of retail math.
Creative and innovative with a passion for trends. Stays current on market and industry trends through competitive shopping and related industry publications.
Self-motivated and willing to take accountability for business performance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to develop relationships; strong collaboration skills needed.
Ability to manage ambiguity.
Ability to set priorities, use time effectively and manage multiple priorities; detail oriented.
