The Assistant Patient Care Director is responsible for direction of the Outpatient Infusion nursing unit in coordination with the Patient Care Director in concert with the goals of that unit according to the philosophy of the Division of Patient care Services. The responsibilities includes unit administration, direct nursing care and coordinating activities with ancillary departments. The Assistant Patient Care Director (APCD) reports to the Patient Care Director. An advanced competency level, knowledge of the nursing process, and consistently meeting or exceeding all criteria of the staff nurse performance appraisal tool is expected of APCDs.

Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.
- At least one of relevant nursing experience and one year of demonstrated leadership ability
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or Compact State Licensure in Nursing required.
- American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and promote affiliation with professional and schools of nursing by providing preceptors, education, participating in educational conferences, and mentoring.
- Collaborates to conduct in-services.
- Develops, monitors, evaluates, and documents Continuous Quality Improvement activities in accordance with hospital, state, and The Joint Commission standards. Implements change according to results in coordination with appropriate leadership.
- Identifies potential process improvement deficiencies and actively participates in resolution through communication and education of staff.
- Assures quality of care and services by adhering to industry standards and measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and benchmarks established by the organization.
- Consistently reviews patient survey results to identify feedback, sustain a high performance environment, and lead targeted improvements to deliver exceptional patient experiences.
