Homeland Security Solutions Inc. (HSSI), a leading provider of services and training to Government and commercial customers worldwide, is seeking Combative Instructor/Instructional Specialists in pursuit of a Government contract. This position serves as Instructional Specialist for Naval Special Warfare TRADETs. Combative Instructors support cadre and trainees during planning, classroom instruction, practical field training, final training exercises, and perform as opposing forces (OP4), as necessary. The instructor shall coordinate with trainers prior to training evolutions and assist in directing combative activities during training evolutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide clear and effective speaking in delivering communication to trainees and Naval Special Warfare staff and provide specific instruction in the following categories:
Close Contact Weapons procedures.
Striking, takedowns, and avoidance measures.
Shall possess the minimum following qualifications and potentially possess preferred qualifications for Combatives Instructor:
At a minimum, have expert (defined as 10 or more years) proficiency in several martial arts systems, including but not limited to: boxing, wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and/or Muay Thai.
Capable of performing data entry on IBM®-compatible computers utilizing current versions of Microsoft® Windows®, and Microsoft Office® applications like Access®, Excel®, Word®, PowerPoint® and other related programs.
Completed honorable service as a former NSW, USSOCOM or Federal Law Enforcement Operator and Tactical Trainer with post 9/11 combat experience (Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) or Operation New Dawn (OND), or Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR). It is preferred prior enlisted or officer instructors shall have completed Navy Instructor Training and successfully obtained Naval Enlisted Classification (NEC) 9502 or industry equivalent.
Possess professional work ethics, verbal and written communication skills, and be detailed and accurate in performing all administrative and routine functions.
Shall have knowledge and understanding of COMNAVSPECWARCOMINST 3591.1D publication.
Clear and effective if delivering communication to trainees and Naval Special Warfare staff.
Capable of performing in a fast-paced and dynamic atmosphere, while completing multiple tasks, and meeting stringent timelines.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience performing in a Special Operations (SOF) mission execution capacity.
Required to perform on-site practical instruction, for periods of up to 20 hours, in conditions ranging from negative 5 degrees Fahrenheit to temperatures up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Capable of performing tasks with heights up to 24,999 Above Mean Sea Level (MSL). Capable of performing underwater dives up to 100 feet below sea level.
Excellent teaching, communication, and classroom management skills. Dynamic classroom presentation that leads students to think critically, engage in discussion, enjoy the presentation, and relate to the material and the instructor.
Minimum three years of instructional experience.
Demonstrated leadership and team building skills. Minimum three years relevant leadership experience in professional setting required.
Must be capable of traveling multiple times to various CONUS locations for extended periods (up to four consecutive weeks, on a repetitive basis – at a frequency of up to eight (8) times per year)
Follow existing USG, DOD, USSOCOM, and NSW personnel standards of conduct and business practices, and be able to recommend modernization or adaptation changes or revisions – specific to NSW TRADET.
Have at minimum, certification from Federal Law Enforcement Agency or SOF Unit Tactical Shooting COI.
Have a minimum 5 years’ experience with exercise coordination, scenario and script development and execution.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must successfully pass initial drug screening and periodic follow-up testing.
Must possess and maintain a current “secret” security clearance.
Must successfully complete an HSSI background check.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
Have 5 years’ experience planning, coordinate and instruct the training disciplines as identified in the duties and responsibilities.
Understanding of the Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures 3-05 series Naval Special Warfare Publication.
Knowledge and understanding of the M350 Series publications for SOCOM.
Have knowledge and understanding of the TTP 3-05 series SOF Combative instruction of the Naval Special Warfare.
