Raytheon has an immediate need for a Lead Network Engineer in support of the Cybersecurity & Special Missions (CSM) group, providing cybersecurity and advanced intelligence solutions that strengthen our global customers' critical infrastructures, information systems and mission.
The Lead Network Engineer shall perform a full range of complex network designs encompassing multiple technologies within a single network; performing a full range of upgrades to the existing network architecture, and performing long term sustainment and maintenance to include troubleshooting and problem resolution.
The Lead Network Engineer shall perform the following duties:
Evaluate new network technologies and make recommendations to project managers regarding the integration of these technologies into the existing network.
Plan new configuration for integration into the network, using knowledge of performance characteristics of the systems being added to the network and the specifications for network interfaces to insure effective integration and optimal network performance.
Prepare technical proposals for presentation to the Sponsor’s engineering review boards for adding new technologies to the network.
Perform enterprise network configuration and maintenance as it relates to Cisco, Juniper, etc. network components, network encryption devices and computer workstations and servers.
Configure, troubleshoot and design Cisco routers (or other vendor) and multilayer switches.
Design and plan network communications systems; plan and formulate engineering program.
Support the program’s senior leadership personnel and manage small projects from inception to completion including technical assessments, architectural design and planning, integration, testing, and implementation.
Diagnose network failures and take appropriate steps to timely repair or restore services.
Prepare a network monitoring plan for Sponsor networks.
Conduct continuous monitoring and testing of network designs.
Create Layer 2/Layer3 provisioning and configuration control board documentation.
Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
Conduct network topology surveys.
Minimum Mandatory Qualifications
Current/active TS/SCI with full poly
Advanced understanding of networking systems and TCP/IP to include experience in IP addressing and subnetting, network address translation, MTU and QOS.
Strong knowledge of routing and switching systems (Cisco preferred), routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP), and gateway redundancy protocols (HSRP, VRRP, and GLRP); to include troubleshooting issues with these protocols.
Demonstrated knowledge of multicast, virtual LANs, trunking, network security appliances, SONET, ATM, MPLS and POS.
Experience supporting the full engineering lifecycle.
Must be a US Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance with FSP from day one of employment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics or equivalent experience.
Eight (8) or more years of related experience (minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in network configuration and maintenance as it relates to network components, network encryption devices, and computer workstations and servers).
