As a DevOps Developer, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a focused team dedicated to helping to make the health care system work better for everyone. This position is a part of the Advanced Analytic Lab’s Analytic Infrastructure team that supports coding, scripting and process re-engineering for Optum Payment Integrity data solutions. In this role, you'll cross and merge the barriers that exist between software development, testing and operations teams, and keep existing networks in mind as you design, plan and solution. You will also create and maintain standards documents and detailed process flows to implement best practices in DevOps. We are looking for a self-starter who can work effectively both in an office and in a virtual environment, and likes to have fun while performing at a high level for our customers.

Primary Responsibilities:
Establish the continuous integration (CI) pipeline to fully automate the build and deployment of our highly available, mission critical products and services

Create scripts and templates to build development systems for our software engineers

Build tools for deployment, monitoring and operations

Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our development, test and production environments.

Work with platform team on software and system optimizations, helping to identify and remove potential performance bottlenecks

Stay up-to-date on relevant technologies, plug into user groups, understand trends and opportunities to ensure we are using the best possible techniques and tools

Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation

Design, manage, and maintain tools to automate operational processes

Collaborate with software developers, system operators and other technology staff members to manage code releases

Install and configure solutions, implement reusable components, translate technical requirements, assist with all stages of test data, develop interface stubs and simulators, and perform script maintenance and updates

Build automated deployments through the use of configuration management technology

Create requirements and procedures for implementing routine maintenance, including troubleshooting existing information systems for errors and resolving those errors

Evaluate existing applications and platforms and give recommendations for enhancing performance via gap analysis, identifying the most practical alternative solutions and assisting with modifications

Participate in strategic project-planning, provide guidance and expertise on system options, risk, impact and costs vs. benefits

Navigate and influence multiple cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix work environment

Support other ad-hoc projects as needed

Required Qualifications:
5+ years of professional software/technology experience, with at least three years of experience in a complex, technical environment

3+ years of experience working in an Agile environment utilizing Test-driven development practices

2+ years of experience implementing CI/CD (preferably with Jenkins)

2+ years of experience with automation/configuration management (Chef, Ansible, Selenium, Junit, Appium, Spock, etc.)

2+ years of experience developing on Linux in a high-availability environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services

Strong experience with SQL and noSQL technologies

Experience developing on Microsoft Azure and AWS

Proficient with developer tools such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, VS Code, etc.
