Veterinary Technician/Assistant
Job Description
Duties include but are not limited to; assisting the doctors in the the practice of medicine and surgery, in and out patient care, appointments, laboratory duties, treatments, drug dosages and dispensing, surgery duties, dentistry, medical record notation and maintenance, housekeeping duties throughout the facility, administrative duties, inventory, OSHA awareness and compliance, extraordinary customer service and maintaining a practical knowledge of the clinic's procedures, services and policies. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, use appropriate medical terminology and support practice ownership, management and fellow team members at all times.
Job Basics
- Bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, standing/walking most of your day, typing, writing, balancing, twisting, squatting and rotating throughout the day.
-Moving and restraining animals up to 200 lbs intermittently, lifting animals up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds with help.
-Keep team mentality in mind at all times, be prepared and willing to offer assistance and ask for assistance when needed.
-Admit patients for in-patient or out-patient procedures perform technician exams according to hospital procedure, fill prescriptions written and authorized by a DVM, taking vital signs and preparing vaccines, collect samples and prepare for in house or send out.
-Induce anesthesia and intubate, monitor anesthesia, assess anesthetic risk and communicate clearly to DVM, prepare patient for surgery using hospital procedure.
-Perform all patient treatments as ordered by DVM
-Be able to record TPR, medical history, patient status, procedures, treatments, findings, lab results, surgical notes, pre surgical findings, anesthetic risk, all medications given or dispensed and complete discharge/home care/instructions
-Thoroughly record conversations with clients including all recommendations, declined recommendations or treatments etc.
-Keeping clinic areas, treatment areas and surgical areas clean and sanitary and sterile where required

Job Type: Full-Time 35-40hrs a week
Salary: $13.00 to $18.00 /hour

Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Veterinary Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Veterinary Technician Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
