Internal Audit

Job Description:
As an Experienced Associate, Internal Audit, you will support the execution of financial, operational, risk-based, corporate governance, and Sarbanes-Oxley audits for ICF's domestic and international operations. Reporting to the Internal Audit Senior Manager, the Experienced Associate is responsible for working independently to perform assurance and advisory reviews and communicate issues to applicable process owners. This position is based in our Fairfax, Virginia Metro accessible headquarters, and may require up to 5% travel, to include international locations.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:
Execute financial, operational, compliance/ governance, and investigative fraud internal audit projects.
Assist with upfront Internal Audit project planning, including the definition of audit scope and audit work programs
Actively participate in interviews to understand the business process and documents the business process in a set of flowcharts or narratives
Independently perform and document the results of audit steps detailed in the audit work program
Assist with the Sarbanes Oxley compliance assessment by evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of management identified key controls
Identify testing exceptions
Incorporate the use of data analytics where appropriate to improve the audit efficiency and broaden the audited population
Assist with the summary of audit results in a formal audit report
Communicate potential audit findings to management during the course of fieldwork.
Build good rapport and solid business relationships with peers in other departments
Over time, begin to take on responsibilities at the next level.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Information Systems, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
CPA or CIA (or an active candidate)
2+ years of audit experience
Proficient understanding of core business processes (i.e., Contracts, Procurement, Human Resource, Accounting, Financial Reporting, Project/Business Finance).
In addition to the core knowledge and skills noted above, the Experienced Associate should have the following areas of knowledge:
Basic understanding of ERP system and applications controls
Proficiency in auditing for potential fraud
Proficiency in data analytics procedures / techniques
Ability to evaluate risk impact and vulnerability
Ability to drive value-added recommendations
Experience actively contributing to SOX
Travel is estimated at 10%, including international.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
Additional certifications: CISA or CFE
Internal Audit and/or Big Four experience.
Experience with the following applications: Costpoint, Maconomy, and PeopleSoft HR

Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
Excellent problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions
Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
