In 2019, the HR Partner service model/vision for our department debuted and our focus became building long-term, customer based relationships, while advancing the College's mission to serve our students' spirit, mind and body. Able to better meet the needs of our customers through this model, we are looking for a broad-based HR generalist who will help the team build on that vision.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the incumbent will provide full-cycle human resources support to their assigned areas on campus. This includes recruiting, employee relations, leaves, worker's compensation, benefits, compensation and all activities related to retention and one-on-one supervisor support. In addition, the incumbent will have a secondary duty related to their subject area of expertise.
Support a Division with all employment matters, including, but not limited to: searches, interviewing and hiring, background checks, I-9 completion and submission, transmittal of appropriate hiring documentation to payroll/HRIS, orientation, employee relations (retention, coaching/counseling, investigations, supervisory executive coaching, discipline, initiation of termination proceedings, PIPs, exit interviews), leaves of absences (FMLA, Work Comp, unpaid, personal, etc...) and workers compensation.
Basic compensation administration (equity/merit), FLSA Exemption Analysis, market research
Guides managers and employees through the performance review process, including introductory reviews; reviews evaluations for consistency and appropriateness.
Helps employees and managers with crucial performance conversations-coaching them to remain impartial, neutral.
Provide supplemental support and cross training to HR Partners as necessary to service their divisions
Associates degree with at least five years of directly related experience or Bachelor's degree and at least three years experience required.
Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems (ADP knowledge a plus)
Federal, state and governing EEO laws, guidelines and procedures
Emerging trends and practices in Human Resources
Employee relations principles, practices, methods and programs
Recruitment and employment documentation principles, procedures and requirements
Offer solutions, think creatively and avoid saying no
Understand, interpret and reinforce College policies and procedures with an eye for equity and consistency
Use HR and industry best practices when it comes to confidential and sensitive information
Analyze and resolve conflict proactively and in both parties' best interests
Understand the need for and have a full commitment to diversity and civility in the workplace
Provide strong counsel and support to managers and staff, on stressful and time sensitive topics, by using persuasive arguments, not by simply restating policy
Provide strong customer skills essential to work in collaboration with all internal and external constituents on and off campus from students, Vice Presidents, families, applicants, and vendors
Be accountable for your work and reflective of how the actions of HR affect the masses
Be proactive, self-starter and resolve matters in an independent and timely manner
Maintain strong interpersonal relationships with all levels of the organization
Stay organizationally and programmatically sound during the work day
Successfully manage multiple priorities in a complex environment
Write, speak and present in a superior fashion
Follow-through continually and even when not asked to do so.
Occasional evening, holiday, or weekend work may be required during peak processing periods.
