The research assistant will work in the Mind & Brain Health Labs (MBHL) with the principle investigator and research team to coordinate, develop, and conduct scholarly and clinical research projects. This includes ongoing NIH research in aging, medical, and neurological populations. The ideal candidate will be independent, responsible, self-motivated, and have prior research in an empirical psychology lab. This is an excellent opportunity to get exposure to cognitive, translational, and clinical research and can provide opportunities to build CVs via research experience and potential publications. MBHL offers opportunities for applicants to apply and develop diverse research and computational skills. MBHL is housed in the Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. MBHL fosters multidisciplinary activities of clinicians and researchers devoted to translational research on human neurocognitive performance across laboratory and real-world settings. The labs use sophisticated tools including high-fidelity driving simulation, cognitive assessment, and sensor-based measures of physiology and behavior. Preferred Experience:
1. Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in social, cognitive, or health science lab experience is desired, including experience with data collection, recruitment and conducting of studies with research participants.
2. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Access, Excel, and Powerpoint) and Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat is desired.
3. Experience and background in the administration of cognitive and neuropsychological tests is desirable.
4. Experience working with elderly and patient populations is desired.
5. Previous experience with general programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, shell scripting), statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R), and use/programming of experimental presentation software (e.g., ePrime, Psychtoolbox, SuperLab, etc.) is desirable.
6. Basic knowledge of statistical methods for analysis of cognitive and behavioral data is desirable.
7. Basic computer programming, electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, and engineering skills are desired.
8. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills is required.
9. Ability to effectively work independently and in a team is required.
