We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) responsible for all aspects of business unit performance within the assigned territory including Profit & Loss (P&L) management and accountable to achieve defined revenue, gross margin and net profitability targets as directed by management. This role includes customer account development and management for ECIs consulting and professional arborist services in the assigned region. Responsibilities also include leading personnel, managing operations and generating sales via direct selling and proposal responses. The manager will ensure quality customer support through follow-up and client relationship building. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for all activities within the region including Profit & Loss responsibilities (when technically feasible and directed by corporate operations).
Develop and maintain written account plans for selected accounts within the assigned territory and as agreed upon and directed by your manager and executive management.
Maintain Customer contact methods as directed for: leads, contact, opportunities and project management using company provided resources (such as SalesForce.Com).
Help assure and promote an effective safety culture among ECI employees.Responsible for budgeting and forecasting within the territory (when requested).
Be willing to regularly go into the field with staff to ensure quality and garner feedback for product and process improvement.
Lead personnel, manage operations and generate sales.
Provide direct supervision and management of ECI field service personnel in the region.
Oversee the hiring, managing, development and retention of contract and project employees within the region.
Operational excellence including personnel, production and quality.
Regularly travel over-night to perform client calls on assigned accounts and actively seek to develop new clients within the assigned geographic territory. Estimated travel is 75 – 80%.
Routinely meet with high-level utility client executives to reinforce ECI’s industry leading consulting services and to establish long-term client relationships, during and beyond normal business hours.
Conduct, coordinate and train ECI arborists (subordinates) on field service projects in assigned territory.
Plan and attend various statewide and national conferences and develop and deliver presentations.
Provide ECI upper management with creative solutions for service growth ideas/opportunities.
Plan, organize, schedule and manage personal travel schedule.
An associates degree in Forestry or a related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. A business or electrical engineering degree with solid utility forestry experience is an alternative.
Successful experience in sales, business development, or customer relations a plus.
Experience with contract bidding and proposal preparation a plus.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, staff, executives and field employees.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in the English language required.
Computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Willingness to travel extensively (estimated 3+ weeks/month) including a few weekends each year.
ISA Certification preferred (and required within 18 months).
Bi-lingual speaking (English and Spanish) is a plus.
