We are seeking a laser system engineer to work with a team of engineers and scientists to design, analyze, and test laser systems for high energy laser (HEL) and remote sensing applications. You will perform laboratory and field measurements in support of both HEL and other optical remote sensing projects. Specifics include: Hands-on high power fiber laser development, optical breadboarding, and system-level HEL engagement studies.
As a Laser System Engineer...
Your primary responsibilities will be to assist with the design, development, and testing of high power fiber laser systems, perform optical measurements and data analysis to predict/understand/simulate the performance of high power fiber laser systems and develop novel laser systems to enable next generation remote sensing concepts.
You will also monitor developing HEL technologies and investigate possible future applications for them.
You will be expected to assist with the development of proposals in these areas.
You will also engage and collaborate with sponsoring organizations and the user communities to more fully understand their needs for future systems.

Hold a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering, or similar fields.
Have a background fiber laser system modeling and simulation.
Are experienced in constructing high power fiber amplifier systems.
Have demonstrated the ability to work in teams and hands on with high power fiber laser hardware.
Possess strong analytical skills.
The ability to obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Hold a M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering, or similar fields.
Have more than 5 years experience in numerical simulation of high power fiber laser systems to include effects such as SBS, birefringence, and phase modulation.
Are experienced in developing processes for construction/manufacturing of high power fiber laser systems.
Have demonstrated expertise in system engagement modeling and simulation for analysis of HEL system parameters.
Are experienced with MATLAB, LABVIEW, ZEMAX, MODTRAN, C etc.
Hold a current Secret clearance
