Full Job Description
A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co. is a leading manufacturer of water works brass, plumbing valves, pumps and water systems, natural gas valves and meter bars. The fifth generational company is privately owned and has a history of providing quality products since its founding in 1856.
This position will be responsible for foundry process stability and improvements, job design, scrap reduction, automation and continuous improvement.
Foundry process stability and improvement:
Owner of the foundry processes.
Sand, core making, molding, pouring, melting and post cast.
Gating design and improvements.
Sample casting process.
Process Control plan in conjunction with Quality.
Lead and manage process improvement.
Sand stability and improvement.
Core making, molding, pouring, and melt practices.
Post cast improvements in safety, quality, productivity and cost reductions.
Lead safety, cost saving and process improvement projects.
Standard work and job descriptions.
Job training design with the Training Department.
Work standards in conjunction with Industrial Engineering.
Work with Engineering on design for manufacturability.
Scrap and Re-work Reduction:
Lead and manage the systematic reduction in scrap (foundry and leakers) and re-work.
Run and analyze Designed Experiments (DOE) for improved quality.
Working with Quality on flow and solidification simulation and analysis.
Automation and Continuous improvement:
Work with the Project Administrators and IE on automation projects, including project management and implementation
Continuously improve PQPC (People, Quality, Productivity and Cost).
Design and implement new manufacturing processes and systems.
Requires an associate’s degree related to Engineering. Bachelor’s degree would be preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of Foundry/Process Engineering experience.
Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
